Terms & Conditions

Last updated: April 2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Div/Sum. These terms govern your use of the App and constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Div/Sum.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Div/Sum ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the App. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

2. Description of Service

Div/Sum is a bill-splitting application that allows users to scan receipts using AI-powered OCR technology, assign items to individuals, and generate payment requests. The App integrates with third-party payment platforms (Revolut, Venmo, PayPal) to facilitate payments. Div/Sum does not process, hold, or transfer any funds directly.

3. User Accounts

You must create an account to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account. You may not share your account with others or create accounts for deceptive purposes.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Div/Sum only for lawful purposes. You must not: use the App for any fraudulent or deceptive activity; attempt to reverse-engineer or tamper with the App; upload harmful, offensive, or illegal content; violate the rights of other users; or use automated scripts to access the App.

5. Receipt Data and AI Processing

When you upload a receipt image, it is processed by our AI system to extract text and item data. By uploading images, you grant Div/Sum a limited licence to process those images for the purpose of providing the service. We do not use your receipt data to train AI models without your explicit consent. Receipt images may be retained for a limited period for debugging and service improvement purposes.

6. Third-Party Payment Links

Div/Sum generates payment links to third-party services (Revolut, Venmo, PayPal). These services are independent of Div/Sum, and their use is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Div/Sum is not responsible for any transactions, disputes, or losses arising from the use of third-party payment platforms.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, logos, and software within Div/Sum are the intellectual property of Div/Sum and its creators. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission. User-generated content (such as profile names) remains your property, but you grant us a licence to display it within the App.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Div/Sum is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that AI scanning results will always be accurate. You should always verify split calculations before making or requesting payments.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Div/Sum shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to financial disputes between users, incorrect receipt scanning, or third-party payment failures.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time through the Profile settings page. Upon termination, your data may be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
